We had a great time bringing a little bit of local history to the Old Time Music Festival at Kennedy Farm in Washington County MD this weekend!![]()

The farm has a long and layered history, with John Brown's men staying there in the period leading up to the raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859. Because of this historical significance, the IBOEPW (African American Elks Lodge) purchased the property in the 20th century and built a concert venue there as part of the Chitlin Circuit. The venue hosted big names in the 1950s and 1960s, including James Brown, Ray Charles, Ike and Tina Turner, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Aretha Franklin, BB King, Otis Redding, Etta James, Sam Cooke, the Temptations...and too many other names to mention! If you haven't visited this farm, the owner allows visitors to respectfully explore this historic property.
