Another recent acquisition that will be on display in our new exhibit--a sampler created by a teenage Sarah Osbourn in 1817 and donated by her descendants, the Hiett family. In the earliest decades of the United States' existence, Sarah demonstrated her patriotic sentiment by dating the sampler from 1776, "the 41st of American Independence." It demonstrates the importance of the Revolution even decades afterward, and a local woman's engagement with the history of the new country she lived in. ![]()

Our ledgers from the Strider General Store in Uvilla are coming along nicely! Thanks to our Two Rivers Giving Circle grant from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, they are having their pages repaired, cleaned, and stabilized, as well as having their spines rebuilt. Here are some photos of the work in progress, done by Cat Tail Run Hand Bookbinding. We look forward to posting before and after photos once the work is finished!
